In a shocking development in Oyo State, the life of a 70-year-old woman was tragically lost during a violent arson attack in the Aagba community.

The inferno, which engulfed nine houses, also sent residents fleeing for their lives. The heart-wrenching incident, which occurred on April 5, has left the local community in despair.

Authorities believe the deadly fire was a carefully planned act of violence, rooted in a long-standing land dispute between Aagba and a neighboring village.

According to a statement from the Oyo State Police Command, the attack targeted individuals involved in a bitter land conflict.

The police revealed that the suspected attackers, led by 33-year-old Salawudeen Ismaila from the Oko community, were arrested after intense investigations. Eight other suspects were taken into custody, and three unregistered motorcycles were recovered.

Despite the gravity of the situation, law enforcement assures that peace has been restored, with villagers returning to their homes.

However, the authorities have issued a stern warning against vigilante justice, reminding citizens to trust the legal system rather than resorting to violence. Police operations are continuing to capture additional suspects still on the run, and the arrested individuals will soon face justice in court.
