A gruesome homicide case has been cracked by Lagos police after arresting 35-year-old Adeola Adewale for allegedly poisoning a 65-year-old man in a rented service apartment.

The victim, Mr. Adebayo, was found dead on March 28 in Abule Egba, with an empty syringe and malt drink cans at the scene. Adewale—who fled with the deceased’s car and belongings—confessed during interrogation to lacing his drink with a toxic substance.

Key details:

  • Crime Scene: Syringe, two empty malt cans, water bottles found

  • Modus Operandi: Suspect posed as companion, left after administering poison

  • Arrest: Tracked down in Oko-Oba on April 26 after weeks of investigation

CSP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed Adewale knew the victim, though their relationship remains unclear. An autopsy at LASUTH is pending, but evidence points to deliberate poisoning.

The case highlights risks of short-term rentals, with police urging public vigilance. "Anyone with information should come forward," Hundeyin stressed.
