In a heart-wrenching incident from Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State, a seven-year-old boy named Abubakar Sani has undergone a double leg amputation following severe abuse by his father. The father, Sani Tanimi Maishago, allegedly tied Abubakar’s legs and poured hot water on them as punishment for stealing biscuits. Subsequently, Abubakar was locked in a room for over 20 days without adequate food or medical attention.
The Kaduna State Government intervened after receiving reports about the boy’s condition. By the time authorities reached him, his legs were severely infected, necessitating amputation to save his life. Both the father and stepmother have been arrested and are set to face charges in court. The Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development, Rabi Salisu, emphasized the state’s commitment to protecting children’s rights and ensuring justice is served.
