Popular skitmaker and singer Carter Efe has called out the organizers of the 17th Headies Awards for giving a posthumous award to late Afrobeats star Mohbad. The controversial win has sparked debates online, with many questioning the timing of the recognition.
Mohbad, who tragically passed away in 2023, was honored with the Best Street-Hop Artiste award, accepted by his widow, Wunmi. Carter Efe slammed the decision, accusing the Headies of hypocrisy.
“Why Headies dey misbehave now? You go dey nominate Mohbad? Wetin make them nominate am? But when the boy dey alive, them no give am anything. Na now dem dey find clout?” he said in a viral rant.
