Nigerians are expressing outrage as the pump price of petrol surged to N855 per litre, with some independent marketers selling as high as N1,300 per litre outside major cities.

The price hike follows a 355% increase since May 2023, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. 

The latest adjustment sees NNPCL Retail stations in Abuja selling at N997 per litre, while independent marketers hit N1,018. 

The price increase has sparked long queues at filling stations and fueled a black market where petrol is sold at N1,500 per litre.
