hatunga Bellarmine Mugabe, son of the late Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, was arrested early this morning in Beitbridge for assaulting a police officer and brandishing a knife. 

The incident occurred at a roadblock in Bubi, about 80 kilometers from Beitbridge, when Mugabe, who was in a vehicle with a Chinese driver, became agitated over a request for vehicle documents.

Mugabe reportedly grabbed a Support Unit officer, tore off his shirt buttons, and threatened him with an Okapi knife. The situation ended with Mugabe being subdued and arrested.

This arrest adds to his history of legal issues, including a prior assault charge in 2023.
