A devastating flood in Maiduguri, Borno State, has displaced at least 414,000 people and claimed the lives of 30 residents. 

The flood, triggered by heavy rains and the overflow of the Alau Dam, is the worst in the region in three decades, according to reports from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

The disaster has affected over 23,000 households, leaving thousands seeking refuge in nine internally displaced persons (IDP) camps across the state.

Major locations, including the palace of the Shehu of Borno and the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, were submerged, along with schools, zoos, and other public infrastructure.
