EPL: Next 4 weeks already danger for you - Ten Hag warns Man United star

Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag has said that the World Cup break represents a big ‘danger’ for youngster, Alejandro Garnacho’s development.

Manchester United defeated Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday with Garnacho coming off the bench to net the winner for the Red Devils.

Christian Eriksen had put the visitors in the lead but were pegged back by a Dan James equaliser.

The young Argentine netted against Real Sociedad and bagged a pair of assists against Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup in midweek.

Now that the Spain born Argentine is gradually coming out of his teething problems and attitude issues, Ten Hag feels the World Cup has come at the worst possible time.

He believes that Garnacho could lose the momentum he was building.

“Now it’s a four-week break, that’s already a danger for him because he’s now got momentum, but now it’s cut. It’s a cut in the season.

“So we will see how he comes back…

“The danger is four weeks of no games. He could lose focus, less investment.”

EPL: Erik ten Hag told to sack three 'troublemakers' from Man United

Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher, has told new Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag to sell two or three players when he takes over at Stamford Bridge in the summer.

According to him, two or three troublemakers must leave the club if the Dutchman is looking forward to making a success of his reign at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils confirmed earlier today that the 52-year-old Dutchman is now the next permanent manager and will take over from interim boss Ralf Rangnick at the end of the season.

He has already signed a three-year deal at the club which can be extended by a year if agreed by both parties.

Asked what the Dutchman’s priority should be once he arrives at Manchester United, the Liverpool legend told Sky Sports: “Getting good players and getting some out.

“If he can get two or three signings right, move two or three players on who are maybe causing problems or don’t suit his way of playing.

“He’ll revitalise some players and he’ll probably have to add three or four players to the starting XI.” Dailypost

EPL: Guardiola reveals why Ronaldo's absence was good for Man United in 4-1 defeat to City

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola appears to have taken a dig at Cristiano Ronaldo after his team defeated Manchester United 4-1 at the Etihad on Sunday.

The Spaniard seems to have been impressed with United’s aggression in the first half of the clash without Ronaldo in the squad.

The former Barcelona coach said it is something Manchester United can do without Cristiano Ronaldo in the lineup.

Manchester United were demolished 4-1 with two goals each from Kevin de Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez in each of the halves.

United managed to pull one back through Jadon Sancho during the first half when United competed well with City and went in at the break 2-1 down.

Ronaldo was said to have sustained a hip problem on Friday and was not available for selection and Guardiola believes this could have been a blessing in disguise in terms of being able to press and show aggression.

“They make a 4-2-4, so aggressive for the mentality of Ralf. Without Cristiano they can do it,” Guardiola told the press after the match.

“They were incredibly aggressive and we struggled to deal with that.

“I’d say in the first half we had more chances with the counter-attack than with possession,” he said. Dailypost

EPL: Ole Solskjaer refuses to sign player for Man United over haircut

Manchester United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that he had turned down signing a football star for Manchester United because of the player’s haircut.

The Norwegian gaffer says he pays just as much attention to the player’s mentality, character and background.

Solskjaer said that he cut short the scouting mission on one of the players he wanted to sign for United because of the player’s Mohican hairstyle.

“I once went to see a player and as he walked out of the dressing room through the tunnel he had a Mohican (hairstyle),’ Solskjaer told Sky Sports.

“I said to my scout: ‘Nah let’s go home, not interested.’ That was a very short scouting trip.”

Solskjaer has signed over 20 players for Manchester United, including Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Bruno Fernandes, Donny van de Beek, Amad Diallo, Daniel James, Alex Telles, Odion Ighalo, Cavani, among others. Dailypost

Real Sociedad vs Man United: Ole Solskjaer gives fresh injury update on Pogba

Manchester United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has provided the latest injury update on midfielder, Paul Pogba, ahead of his side’s Europa League clash with Real Sociedad on Thursday night.

Pogba has not played for Man United since limping out of the 3-3 draw with Everton on February 6 with a thigh injury.

The France World Cup winner also missed last week’s FA Cup win over West Ham and Sunday’s draw with West Brom.

Providing an update on Pogba, Solskjaer said at his pre-match press conference that the former Juventus star would not return to action until March at the earliest.

“Paul is recovering well,” Solskjaer told reporters.

“He’s starting the treatment, but it will still be a few weeks. He won’t be playing in February, that’s for sure, it’s still a few weeks before we see Paul definitely.

“We won’t see him in February, that’s for sure.” Dailypost

Misfiring Man United will be ready for City — Ashley Young

Manchester United’s players are well aware of the importance of Wednesday’s Premier League clash against champions Manchester City and need no extra motivation after a 4-0 hammering at Everton, defender Ashley Young said.

Sixth-placed United’s chances of finishing in the top four were dealt a blow at Goodison Park and the nature of Sunday’s defeat prompted manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to issue an apology to fans ahead of the clash with their city rivals.

“We know how important that (derby) is going to be. If you can’t get yourselves up for the Manchester derby, there’s something wrong,” Young told the club’s website.

“I’ve got confidence that we’re going to be ready for Wednesday... we’ve got to dust ourselves down fairly quickly and go again this week... we’ve got four games left, we’ve got four wins to get. It’s going to be tough but I’m sure we can do it.”

United, who have 64 points from 34 games and sit two points adrift of Arsenal in fourth, face Chelsea, Huddersfield Town and Cardiff City in their final three matches of the season. (Reuters)

Sports: Pogba, Matic and Fred responsible for Man United’s 2-0 defeat to Arsenal – Graeme

Graeme Souness

Pogba, Matic and Fred responsible for Man United’s 2-0 defeat to Arsenal – Graeme
Liverpool legend, Graeme Souness, has said that Manchester United huffed and puffed for most of the period in the game which saw Arsenal sailed 2-0 against the Red Devils.
Souness has revealed that United’s midfielders, Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Fred are to blame for the poor Premier League show on Sunday.
Goals from Granit Xhaka and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gave Unai Emery’s men all three points against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

England Premier League highest goal scorers
Speaking on Sky Sports, Souness said: “United huffed and puffed for a lot of that game. It wasn’t the United we have seen in recent weeks.
“I think the largest reason, the biggest reason why they didn’t start well was their midfield.
“I think their midfield were way off the pace: [Nemanja] Matic, Fred, and Pogba. You would have enjoyed playing against their midfield today because they didn’t get near anyone.”
