Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, has drawn widespread praise across Nigeria's educational sector following the official announcement of a major structural expansion that will transform its regional academic footprint.
The institution began trending across major national news networks after the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, paid a courtesy visit to Igwe Peter Anugwu, the traditional ruler of the Mbaukwu community in the Awka South Local Government Area.
During the visit, the VC revealed that the university management has finalized a comprehensive facelift strategy to upgrade the UNIZIK Pre-Science Centre in Mbaukwu into a full-fledged Mini-Campus.

The expansion will see the immediate deployment of new infrastructural facilities, a massive student enrollment push, and the relocation of the Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) intake to the centre by September 2026.
The move is expected to scale the student population at the Mbaukwu site to well over 2,000, boosting local economic growth and placing the host community firmly on the digital education map.
