President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accompanied by his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, participated directly in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election on Saturday at his home ward in Ikoyi, Lagos State.
The high-profile voting exercise occurred as ruling party members nationwide gathered for the scheduled direct primary election to determine the party's standard-bearer.
Reflecting on the nationwide political exercise via his official digital platforms, President Tinubu emphasized that real democratic governance requires grassroots institutional commitment rather than public rhetoric.
“Democracy is not sustained by noise, speculation, or borrowed platforms," the President stated. "It is sustained by citizens who show up, party members who believe, institutions that endure, the grassroots, and a political family rooted in the people.”

He added that the APC remains organized and deeply grounded, noting that while alternative factions gather around grievances, the ruling party builds around structure and service.
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, was among the top government functionaries who accompanied the President to the Ikoyi voting center.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, who later cast his own vote at Ward E3, Eiyekole, within the Adeniji Adele axis of Lagos Island, praised the Presidency’s bold implementation of necessary regulatory reforms.
He stated that the administration's economic policies and electoral adjustments are systematically stabilizing the nation's polity, expressing strong confidence that better days lie ahead for Nigeria.
