I Wrote Beggie Beggie on a Bus — Ayra Starr Details Surprising Origin of Her Breakthrough Hit

Afrobeats global sensation and Mavin Records signee, Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, has shared an intriguing look into her creative evolution, revealing that she wrote her early breakthrough track "Beggie Beggie" during a random public bus ride home.

Speaking during a recent guest appearance on the Creatorium Podcast, the singer explained that the catchy title and concept came directly from real-life observation when she overheard a female passenger bluntly tell a street beggar, “See this one, beggie beggie.”

Reflecting on how much her creative process has shifted since her early career, Ayra Starr noted that she no longer waits around for deep emotional inspiration or sad themes to draft a song, which heavily contrasted with the production style of her debut album.

Instead, her modern approach focuses on sheer sonic experimentation, testing out different musical chords, sampling unique audio recordings, and prioritizing fun, boundary-pushing melodies to see where the natural rhythm carries her team.

Despite the shiny aesthetics and global acclaim surrounding her brand, the singer emphasized that the entertainment industry demands a high level of love, raw passion, and strict professional discipline behind the scenes.

She candidly pulled back the curtain on the grueling preparation required for live entertainment, pointing out that weeks of intense choreography and vocal rehearsals can easily be undone in a single moment on stage by a sudden technical sound glitch, proving that the reality of a music career is filled with unpredictable hurdles.
